Someone thanked me for 'taking a break from blogging' the other day, so she could enjoy the back-postings of my blog. And I thought, 'Oh, did I take a break?' But I guess I did. A break from photoshoot postings, anyway.
But not for lack of shooting! Its been busy busy busy. Even on my holidays last weekend in NYC, I had a family portrait session in Central Park. What a treat. I could shoot there for the rest of my life. *sigh*
Do you know someone who you feel should have awesome pictures taken, but can't afford it?
Doesn't everyone want a fun, natural portrait session with their loved ones? I know it's not in everyone's budget, but I believe it should be in everyone's life anyway.
Well, here's our chance.
I am happy to say I am participating in a cool little grassroots project called Giving is Awesome, to get photo services to people who you think deserve to have them, but can't afford them.
Here's how it works. I have donated my time and services. If you know someone who you think should have a photo session taken with me, nominate them to win it. Send me an e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org), tell me who they are, and why you think they should win. And then watch the fruits of your generosity come to fruition.
Have you ever met someone and instantly coveted their life? This happened to me yesterday when I met Meghan Telpner for our portrait shoot. She co-ordinates her business and life like she co-ordinates her clothes with her live/work studio -- perfectly!
I walked in, and immediately wanted to be her.
Think I'm crazy? Listen to what she offers through her Nutrition and Holistic Lifestyle business. Cooking classes, kitchen cupboard clean-outs, meditation classes, dietary consultations and personal health programs, to name just a few. What can I say? I signed up. She's going to teach me how to grocery shop effectively.
I might have walked in wanting to be her, but I walked out looking forward to being me! Thanks for the inspiration, Meghan.
This portrait session was purchased as a Christmas gift for this family a year ago. They wanted to wait until their son was a bit older before cashing it in. Now he's an expressive little monkey. I looked forward to this little session all year!
Let's see. In the last 3 weeks, I have shot 4 weddings, 1 baby shoot and 2 engagement shoots. I have been falling behind on my blogging and made an Executive decision to not have a post per session. Instead, here is a mish mash of all the fun I've been having.
You remember Krista + Andy, right? I certainly won't forget how we braved the February cold for their engagement session. They had a wonderful wonderful wedding.
(Thank you to Tara for this awesome shot!)
A couple of days later Cheryl + Rob celebrated their romantic wedding at the Drake Hotel. It was so relaxed, fun and awesome. I am convinced it's because the bride wore such a hot pink dress. There is a connection there, I'm sure of it.
Then there was Ben, who was fussy and incredibly endearing because of it. He turned me into mush.
Oh, and we can't forget Susie + Johnny, who had an amazing authentically Scottish-themed wedding at the Hunt Club. It was cold and overcast -- totally could have been Scotland. If they look familiar, it's probably from their engagement shoot in the Spring.
And from Scottish, I went cowboy. Meet Lindsay + Paul. They are getting married next September. The cows won't be there. Thank goodness, those horns are scary!! We had so much fun together -- they were up for anything! I know their wedding is going to be fantastically great.
